Fresh cargoes of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), butane and aviation fuel are scheduled to berth at key petroleum depots across Lagos, Warri and Port Harcourt between July 13 and July 17, as marketers move to replenish inventories amid rising global freight costs and continued uncertainty in international oil markets.
The latest tanker position report monitored by Petroleumprice.ng shows that depot operators are maintaining product inflows despite mounting pressure from higher shipping costs triggered by recent disruptions in the Middle East. The arrivals come at a time when freight rates have surged by about 25%, putting additional pressure on importers already struggling to compete with Dangote Refinery's pricing.
Industry players are also watching the impact of Dangote Refinery's temporary loading suspension earlier this week, which pushed ex-depot petrol prices at several private depots to the ₦1,200 per litre benchmark. While the refinery has continued to moderate domestic fuel prices in recent weeks, marketers are increasingly factoring higher replacement costs into their pricing decisions.
