OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week will mark its 20th edition in seven days, with crude supply, refinery feedstock, market competition and energy affordability expected to feature prominently at the six-day industry gathering in Lagos.

The event will hold from October 25 to 30 at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, under the theme, “Secure Energy, Shared Prosperity,” with the main conference and exhibition scheduled for October 26 to 29.

Speaking at a media parley ahead of the event, OTL Africa Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Joyce Akabogu, identified competition regulation, policy certainty and feedstock availability as challenges facing Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

The issues are expected to feature in discussions as industry stakeholders assess the implications of Nigeria’s evolving petroleum market, expanding domestic refining capacity and the need to improve the reliability and affordability of energy supplies.

Akabogu said the conference would provide a platform for stakeholders to examine practical ways to improve energy supply, attract investment and make energy products more affordable across the continent, according to a report by Punch.

The conference programme includes sessions on regulatory cooperation across African oil and gas markets, competition in Nigeria’s downstream market, refinery competitiveness, the West African fuels market, gas and renewables, energy financing, and tanker shipping and logistics.

The exhibition will also provide participating companies with opportunities to display products and services, hold business-to-business meetings and engage prospective clients. Major brands and service providers across the petroleum value chain are expected to participate, with exhibition activities covering areas including fuel retail technology, refining, storage, logistics and other downstream services.

The anniversary edition will feature the OTL Africa 20th Anniversary Industry Dinner and Awards, the third edition of the Founders’ Fireside Forum and a closing cocktail reception. A post-event tour of Dangote Refinery is also listed on the programme for October 30.

The event marks two decades of OTL Africa’s engagement with the downstream and midstream energy sectors through industry dialogue, business development and policy discussions.
